Data presentation :-)
- From my research I found that people do watch British Social Realism films alot because they reflect controversial issues. Most people are initially interested towards this genre if there is an issue not particularly shown enough. For example, one person mentioned they re-watched 'Bend it like Beckham' a few times because the protagonist was an Asian girl playing football which is not commonly represented.
- I asked peoples views on Sexual Harassment so I could use realist views in my production , rather than just mainstream or minority views. Some people found that women are often sexually harassed because of their choice of provocative clothing, however some (i.e second participant) thought that this idea was unfair.
- One of my participants of the vox pops stated that it depends on where you live, this gives the impression that the public expect sexual harassment only occurs in certain places, which is why it will be interesting when I display how even the most unlikely circumstances can have sexual harassment which I am looking forward to sharing in my production.
- Another finding that came to light was the fact that sexual harassment also happens in relationships as well as just in the workplace, to broaden my narrative further I will showcase both in my production.
- The public also found that the reason sexual harassment is not as recognized as other controversial topics is because people play on the stereotypes. The male is always seen as the aggressor and the female as the victim, although I want to showcase the archetype of the downtrodden woman, I want to illustrate how this can be reversed to a male also.My protagonist will play the part of the downtrodden woman as some of her fellow male colleagues will have the same archetype but as the male reverse.I will also include a lost boy who will be one of her friends and the bully will be her boss.
